Marine

Global named-water, physical-surface, and maritime-jurisdiction geometry released independently from country administrative programs.

MARINE Release 1.0.2 Available

What this release covers

One maintained release connects persistent place identity, display-ready map geometry, and exact query representations without treating them as interchangeable files.

Domain relationships

Marine zones may overlap one another and country geometry. Relationships and sovereign crosswalks are explicit; overlap does not imply administrative parentage.

Available geography families

A family is a recurring kind of geographic reference system. Only the selected complete hierarchy is the administrative spine; postal, electoral, health, watershed, and other systems remain independently versioned sidechains connected to it.

Available

Water bodies

Named lakes, reservoirs, rivers, seas, and other water identities that may cross administrative boundaries.

Examples: lakes, reservoirs, seas
Available

Marine jurisdictions

Overlapping or adjacent maritime zones published for legal and policy reference, including territorial seas, contiguous zones, EEZs, internal and archipelagic waters, high seas, and continental-shelf submissions; never represented as an administrative hierarchy or authoritative legal determination.

Examples: territorial seas, exclusive economic zones, high seas, extended continental shelves
Available

Physical surface

Global physical land, water, coastline, and mask geometry used for rendering, clipping, and spatial classification rather than political identity.

Examples: land masks, coastlines, ocean masks

Local download packages

Lite contains identities and crosswalks, Display adds simplified map geometry, and Detail adds the highest-resolution maintained geometry. A package appears as downloadable only after artifact and public-reachability QA passes.

lite

Marine Geometry Lite

Marine identities, aliases, source attributes, and country relationships without boundary shapes.

display

Marine Geometry Display

Marine Geometry Lite plus simplified global water and maritime-zone shapes for mapping.

detail

Marine Geometry Detail

Marine Geometry Lite plus exact source-derived shapes and spatial predicate indexes.

Release notes and QA

  • Marine is a global geometry domain, not an ISO country and not part of the published-country count.
  • Maritime polygons are reference geometry only and are not for navigation or legal boundary determination.
