Citation and credit

How to cite DaedalMap

Cite the DaedalMap release you used and every source behind it. Each pack and feed page has the exact citations, ready to copy. Last updated: October 24, 2026.

Data packs and feeds

Cite the release by name, version, page, and the date you retrieved it:

DaedalMap (2026). Earthquakes data pack, version 1.1.0 [Data set]. https://www.daedalmap.com/packs/earthquakes. Accessed 2026-10-24.

Then cite each source the release draws on, in the same style:

U.S. Geological Survey. Earthquakes [Data set]. https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/search/. Accessed 2026-10-24.

On a pack or feed page, Copy all citations copies the release and every source with today's date. In BibTeX:

@misc{daedalmap_earthquakes_2026,
  author       = {{DaedalMap}},
  title        = {Earthquakes data pack, version 1.1.0},
  year         = {2026},
  howpublished = {https://www.daedalmap.com/packs/earthquakes},
  note         = {Data set. Accessed 2026-10-24}
}

Hosted app, API, and MCP tools

Cite the service by name, address, and access date, together with the data releases it returned:

DaedalMap (2026). DaedalMap geography MCP [Web service]. https://daedalmap.com. Accessed 2026-10-24.

Software

Cite the repository and the release tag you used:

DaedalMap (2026). DaedalMap [Computer software]. Version <release tag>. https://github.com/xyver/daedal-map.

DaedalMap is built by Bryan Hellard (ORCID 0009-0003-8535-4253).

Licensing

Data keeps the licence of its sources. Each pack, feed, and geometry release page shows that licence and any required attribution notices, and source licences lists them all.

The mapping app, the public geometry tools, and the road network editor are open source under the MIT licence. The Research MCP runs as a hosted service. Rights to data come from each source's licence.

Credit in your app or map

If you build on DaedalMap, we ask for a small, visible Powered by DaedalMap credit linked to https://daedalmap.com/, for example in a corner of the map. Show it alongside the map tile and data source credits, and keep the wording to the credit itself.
