Check the source. Always.
Every data result in DaedalMap includes the source it came from: the agency, the dataset, the coverage dates, and where to get the original. The system is built so you can read the source yourself, judge whether the answer is right, and act on your own assessment rather than taking the map at face value.
This matters most when the stakes are high. For anything involving emergency planning, infrastructure decisions, safety assessments, or resource allocation: look at the cited source. Compare it against other sources you trust. DaedalMap shows you where the data came from and makes it easy to go check. Trust, but verify.
What DaedalMap is
DaedalMap is an open geographic query engine. The runtime engine is open source under the MIT license. The hosted app and maintained data packs are provided as a service. You can use the public app as a guest, create an account for workspace persistence, or run your own deployment from the open GitHub repository.
Acceptable use
Use the service for legitimate geographic research, analysis, and exploration. Do not attempt to overload, scrape, or abuse the hosted API. Do not use the service to produce or distribute misleading or harmful information. Do not bypass access controls or extract hosted pack data beyond the access lane presented. Bulk downloads may be offered per pack where source terms and DaedalMap's release policy permit them.
Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. DaedalMap reserves the right to suspend accounts that abuse the service. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
Credits
Account credits pay for hosted DaedalMap calls: geography tools beyond their free allowance and paid data packs over MCP or the HTTP API. Every paid call shows its price before anything is charged. Credits are bought through Stripe, do not expire, and are not cash. Unused purchased credits can be refunded within 30 days of purchase; spent credits and free signup credit cannot. The full terms are under Credits and refunds on the pricing page.
Open source engine
The DaedalMap runtime engine is available under the MIT license. You can inspect it, fork it, run it locally, and build on it. The MIT license applies to the engine source; it does not automatically apply to data packs or the hosted service. Every pack keeps its own upstream license or terms, source attribution, and provenance. Redistribution and reuse follow that pack-level record. DaedalMap offers free or paid hosted access only where those source terms permit it.
No warranty
DaedalMap is provided as-is. Geographic data is drawn from public sources and maintained to a reasonable standard, but we make no guarantee of completeness, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose. Do not use DaedalMap as the sole basis for decisions involving safety, legal, or financial consequences.
Changes
These terms may be updated over time. Significant changes will be noted with a new effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
