Bring a file
Choose a CSV or Excel file with coordinates or place codes. The browser scans it locally to find likely location fields.
How it works
Start with a file that has coordinates or place codes. DaedalMap helps identify the places in its rows, shows what needs review, and gives you a path into compatible boundaries and maintained data.

Coordinates resolve into each country's administrative spine. Postal, water, forest, and Indigenous land keep their own family identities. Readable family IDs are MCP-returned preferred public aliases that resolve to the durable canonical identity.
One concrete path
The browser preview starts with a small sample. It keeps uncertain rows visible so you can confirm what a coordinate or code means before using the result.
Choose a CSV or Excel file with coordinates or place codes. The browser scans it locally to find likely location fields.
Where coverage exists, coordinate rows can resolve to an administrative loc_id and place chain. Reference codes are checked against supported interpretations.
Inspect sample matches and uncertain rows. Confirm the intended geography when a code could mean more than one thing, then download the converted result.
Use matching identities with compatible geometry or data packs. Follow a crosswalk when you need to move into another geometry family.
The shared place model
DaedalMap maintains place identities, versioned boundaries, relationships between geographic systems, and the data tied to them. A map displays one view of that work. The same identities and source trail can also be used in downloads, analysis, and agent tools.
The administrative spine is the main direct join path. Postal areas, watersheds, and other geometry families keep their own identities. Crosswalks record the relationship between them, including its source and release, when that connection has been published.
