What this release covers

One maintained release connects persistent place identity, display-ready map geometry, and exact query representations without treating them as interchangeable files.

Domain relationships

Country administrative identities form one parent spine. Separate dispute geometry is not included in this downloadable baseline.

Available geography families

A family is a recurring kind of geographic reference system. Only the selected complete hierarchy is the administrative spine; postal, electoral, health, watershed, and other systems remain independently versioned sidechains connected to it.

Available

Administrative hierarchy

The selected country hierarchy for administrative identity and parent lookup; the catalog separately declares whether its polygon levels are clip-safe nested geometry or relationship-backed authority layers.

Examples: states, provinces, counties, municipalities, census units

Local download packages

Lite contains identities and crosswalks, Display adds simplified map geometry, and Detail adds the highest-resolution maintained geometry. A package appears as downloadable only after artifact and public-reachability QA passes.

lite

Global Baseline Lite

Global Admin0-2 identities, aliases, and parent relationships without boundary shapes.

display

Global Baseline Display

Global Baseline Lite plus simplified Admin0-2 shapes for mapping.

detail

Global Baseline Detail

Global Baseline Lite plus exact Admin0-2 shapes and a predicate index.

Release notes and QA

  • Global Baseline is a global geometry domain, not an ISO country and not part of the published-country count.
  • The baseline stops at Admin2; independently versioned country packages supply deeper or more specialized geometry.
