Live Ops and historical archive

Hurricanes use two data paths

The public pack page covers both the long-running historical hurricane archive and the live Ops hurricane feed. They share the Hurricanes name, but they are collected separately for different jobs.

Live Ops feed

Ops uses four live collectors: NHC, GDACS, JTWC, and JMA. These provide current tropical-cyclone advisories, recent retained track points, and forecast positions for the live map overlay.

Historical pack

Explore, API, MCP, and historical analysis use IBTrACS. IBTrACS is the best-track archive for global tropical cyclones and remains separate from the live collectors.

Server-rendered pack metadata
